D.J PROFILE

How long have you been spinning tunes?

I’ve been spinning tunes since I could reach my dads record player, but ive been djing for about 11 years.

Why or for what reason did you start djing?

I was into the rave seen and enjoyed the musical power these few guys on the stage had, and I guess it was just a natural progression from watching these guys to being up on stage with them dropping tunes.

What is your style/preference?

My preference is u.s style soulful house, but I love all types of music, from 70’s rare groove/old skool hip hop/jazz/indie/drum and bass/happy hardcore to chill out and funk.

But I d.j mainly u.s soulful house, but I also play drum and bass, and occasionally commercial old skool house.

What is your favourite all time tune?

God there is far too many records that I rate to call my favourite tune, but I have to rate at least 2 tracks as all time anthems, they would be Massive Attack – unfinished sympathy (Paul Oakenfold mix), and Roy Ayers – Everybody loves the sunshine (R.A.M.P version)

If you don’t know these tunes then I recommend you get your ass down to the record shop and enhance your life by listening to them!!

Both those records pretty much describe my whole take on music, and my music style that I play has a piece of those records in every tune I buy.

Your opinion of the clubbing scene?

Its starting to move away from the massive club scene, and progressing to the bar scene, which I love, but im getting a bit fed up of the commercial crappy music they play in clubs at the moment, the sort of stuff they sell in Woolworth’s that make big record companies more money, when it should be the small guys that are making the better music, getting more recognition for their efforts. (Ill climb of my soapbox now!)

Where do you see yourself in 1 year?

Who knows, lets just hope that im still playing the records I love and even if just one person appreciates those records, that’s good enough for me.
