More questions!!
What is your most memorable night, and what made it so special?
There’s been a couple of nights that really stand out in my head.
The first one was my first legal rave that I played, it was only an hour long set, but it was after a d.j called D.J Joker who was a massive name at the time, the crowd were so hyped, and the set went perfectly, every tune that I dropped melted into each other and were all massive records, the crowd were lapping it up!!
The second night was actually a time I wasn’t doing the djing, it was at the hippodrome in Colchester, and a d.j named D.J Pants was guesting for this promotion company, I cant remember their name, and he was awesome, I didn’t stop dancing like a loon from the first to the last record he played. Anyone that knows me, knows I don’t dance!!!
Where have you been a resident?
I had a residency for while with an underground rave promotion company called xxx promotions that held events around Essex.
I also had a similar residency with another rave promoter, se7en sence promotions who were an under 21’s rave night promoter, I had a pleasure of being one of their main name d.j’s.
I was a resident at Karooze for a couple of years.
Im now resident at Extreme in Bury st Edmunds, playing every Friday.
Where have you played?
I’ve played loads of rave events around East Anglia back in the day, and I also have played at the Attick Klub in Harlington, west London/ Club M, Newmarket/ Hippodrome, Colchester/ Karooze bar, Bury st Edmunds/ Po na na souk bar, Cambridge/ Club Extreme, Bury st Edmunds.
Name the d.j that inspires you?
There’s a couple of d.j’s that inspire me, these include d.j Spinna, Joey Negro, Eric Morillo, Ben Watt, Armand Van Helden, but there is so many more that I admire, and inspire me.
What is the most expensive piece of must have vinyl that you have purchased, how much did you pay?
Roy Ayers - everybody loves the sunshine, U.S import first pressing.
I paid £45 for it, but is worth so much more now! It’s my pension!!
What is your most embarrassing djing moment?
To be honest there hasn’t been that many, just the usual not concentrating, and pulling of the wrong record creating a dramatic but embarrassing silence.
Your opinion of the clubbing scene?
Its starting to move away from the massive club scene, and progressing to the bar scene, which I love, but im getting a bit fed up of the commercial crappy music they play in clubs at the moment, the sort of stuff they sell in Woolworth’s that make big record companies more money, when it should be the small guys that are making the better music, getting more recognition for their efforts. (Ill climb of my soapbox now!)
Where do you see yourself in 1 year?
Who knows, lets just hope that im still playing the records I love and even if just one person appreciates those records, that’s good enough for me.
